Yet another advertisement—and suddenly the product in its shiny packaging is already on our shelf at home.
Hungry? Curious? Or afraid of being the odd one out?
The industry has sold this product long before it even existed. Endless streams of information about novelties, fads, and trends in nutrition, all subliminally advertised as Healthy Lifestyle, overwhelm and brainwash us to the point that we stop questioning what we are actually consuming.
Let’s start from the premise that our DNA doesn’t change as often as new foods appear on the market. Do we even have the tools to process them? All those enzymes?
Here are a few simple, yet often forgotten, tips for a more NATURAL approach to eating:
#1 Avoid packaged foods. Their content is largely unnutritious. You will likely consume a huge amount of simple sugars, which will soon drive you to reach for more food due to the rapid spike in insulin.
#2 Eat portions roughly the size of your two fists pressed together. Consuming large quantities leads to the same effect—a surge in insulin levels.
#3 Minimize fresh juices and smoothies. Eating begins even before the first bite. When we see and sense food, the brain starts preparing the body for digestion, with saliva in the mouth providing the necessary enzymes for the process. Why skip this step? Imagine pouring 4–5 oranges straight into your stomach—it wouldn’t know how to handle them. Think about whether you would actually eat that many oranges at once while having a steak and salad for lunch.
#4 Scientific research shows that the brain takes approximately eight minutes to register that we are full. Chew slowly, and you reduce the risk of overeating.
#5 Remember that food is essential, and your mindset toward eating should be positive. Don’t feel guilty if you eat a little more. Feeling remorse afterward is far more harmful than enjoying your meal.
#6 Trust your body above all. It signals what works for you and what doesn’t. Have confidence in yourself and don’t take every “universal” nutrition tip at face value.
#7 Change harmful habits gradually. Excessive stress on the body can trigger other problems.
